Controlled burn policy
Open Controlled Burns on rural ground is permitted following the completion of a Burn Permit application that has been returned to Stafford County Communications and approved by the Fire Director. Prior to a burn, you must report your intent, location, and what you are burning, and the duration of the burn to the Dispatch office. Any controlled burns must be out before dark, supervised continuously, and must not create a traffic hazard. For the duration of the burn, winds may not exceed 15 mph. A tractor and disc should be on location and manned during the controlled burn. Violation of regulations may be punishable by up to a $1000 fine, a $50 response fee per truck, and a charge of $100 per hour per truck on a response call.
