County Attorney

​The County Attorney is the chief law enforcement officer in Stafford County. The Office is staffed by the County Attorney (elected) and one legal secretary. The Office handles felony crimes, select misdemeanor and traffic prosecutions and other specialized prosecutions. Generally, cases include murder, rape, robbery, juvenile offenses, care and treatment actions, child in need of care, criminal appeals and select traffic offenses. The County Attorney’s Office also conducts inquisitions into alleged criminal activities, oversees the preparation of search warrants and assists law enforcement in investigations when needed.
PAY A FINE OR FEE

Stafford County Diversion Program

To apply for the Diversion Program, download and fill out the application. Include application and a $50.00 check or money order made out to Stafford County Attorney and mail back to the Stafford County Attorney's Office. Once received, the application will be reviewed, and the County Attorney will make a decision on approval. If you have been approved, you will receive a Diversion Agreement in the mail, to be signed and returned with proper payment to the County Attorney. Once this is returned, it will be filed in your case, and you will receive an Order of Stay. After this, you can pay your ticket fine and court fees.
