Stafford County Emergency Services serves a rural population of approximately 4,208 people throughout a 792 square mile service area with a call volume of 400-450 calls per year. The department works under protocols designed to provide care to patients in a rural setting. With prolonged transport times and bypass protocols, our EMS personnel must have strong critical thinking skills and be comfortable caring for patients for long periods of time.
Available shifts are 12 hours: * 7am – 7pm (3 shifts per week)

Dispatchers are the first point of contact for 911 and non-emergency calls. They are the calm voice that answers and sends the correct help to those who need it. The ability to manage high-stress situations is beneficial. Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or GED. A valid driver's license and no criminal convictions is required. The ability to multitask is a must. Excellent typing and computer skills, along with public relations and telephone skills are desired. Dispatch works 12 hour shifts. Open shift is 6p-6a overnight. Pay is dependent on experience and ranges between $16.59 to $19.52, including a shift differential.
