The Stafford Recreation Commission is accepting applications from May 1 through May 31 for the position of Recreation Director. This is a full time position that works directly with a 5 member board. A degree in Recreation or related field from a 4 year college is desired but not required. This employee must possess excellent supervisory, organizational, computer, verbal and written communication skills. This position requires a high level of public interaction and efficient use of public resources. Applicant must be willing to work nights and weekends and to live within the USD #349 School District. A Melodrama-"Pelican Pete's Amazing Feat!" Henderson B&B has had an original melodrama written about Pelican Pete. Also, includes other historical Stafford personalities. Check out www.hendersonbandb.com for some of the details of what we are going to do for the summer. Be doing auditions toward the end of March with rehearsals during April and May.
Wheatland Cafe is going to cater the food. Performances will be in Ye Olde Church, 113 N Green. Thanks to Judy Walden, the Byway consultant for her help. .
We have had about 200 people come for our Prom Mystery. Can see pics on our website as well. About 2/3 of those who came for the Prom Mystery spent the night. It has been a successful winter that is normally pretty slow. We would be looking to a potential of 3000 people for the Melodrama.
We will probably look at a couple performances in May that will be 'invitation only' to attract tour operators, group organizers, notable guests and friends. This will be fun. Please spread the word.
