Marriage Licenses


Instructions for Obtaining a Marriage License

Application for a marriage license must be completed by either person at the District Court office. There is a THREE (3) day waiting period, after application is made, before you may pick up the license. Either person may pick up the license.

A worksheet is issued at the time of application. ALL information must be completed and returned when picking up the license. Both parties must sign the worksheet.

The fee for teh license is $69.00 cash or money order only. You may pick up your license between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

After the marriage ceremony the Original License is returned to the Court for recording. You may obtain a certified copy of your marriage license through the Clerks' office in which it was returned to. You may also obtain a copy of your marriage license through the Bureau of Vital Statistics, Topeka, KS.

NOTE: No clerk shall issue a marriage license to a minor without consent of a parent or guardian of the minor and the judge, or the consent of both parents and any legal guardian, or all living parents and any legal guardian. K.S.A. 23-106

If you wish to be married by the Judge, you may make an appointment with their office. Phone numbers are available through this web site. Each individual Judge will set fee for marriage ceremonies.
